Project Coordinator, TEVET Authority

Background

Skills for Resilience is a four year project designed to protect the livelihoods of young smallholder farmers in rural Malawi from external hazards. The project is being implemented by the TEVET Authority whose mandate is to promote, facilitate and regulate the provision of technical, entrepreneurial and vocation education and training in Malawi.

The project is funded by Norwergian Development Cooperation (NORAD) through the Norwegian Association of the Disabled (NAD) and brings together some of the best national and international experts in the field of vocational training, social inclusion and Climate Smart Agriculture, including private sector, local government and local associations.

Specifically, project partners wish to develop and implement a palette of high quality, certified vocational training courses for smallholder farmers in Climate Smart Agriculture. The project builds on existing structures and facilitates lasting cooperation between project stakeholders, hence the need for skills for resilience Project Coordinator.

Role Purpose 
The Skills for Resilience Coordinator shall be responsible for implementation, monitoring an evaluation of the project in coordination with the Head of Projects and Development. The coordinator will directly work in collaboration with Government partners and community structures to reach out to the targeted beneficiaries and will take full responsibility of coordinating and making all logistics to ensure successful implementation of all project activities. The Skills for Resilience Coordinator shall be responsible for developing monthly, quarterly and yearly detailed program activity implementation plans including expenditure budgets, projections and other appropriate requirement.

Scope of Role

Reports to: Head of Projects and Development

Role Dimensions:

Planning, reporting and coordination with Government partners in the impact areas. Occasionally representing the project in external meetings and networking meetings at the area and district level.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources Management or other related field such as Community Development or Rural Development. Those with additional qualifications in Climate Smart Agriculture will have an added advantage.

Experience and Skills

  • Three years’ experience in agriculture development and natural resource management activities
  • Experience in community mobilization and training
  • Excellent planning and budgeting skills
