DAI Global Health is seeking Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) candidates for an anticipated health informatics project in Zambia. The objective of the program is to support the Zambia Ministry of Health (MOH) and other stakeholders improve collection and utilization of health data for informed decision-making. The project will provide technical assistance to collect, coordinate, consolidate, report and analyze health data from health facilities (public and private), clinics, service delivery partners into a national system.  The goal of the improved data collection and management is to support Zambia MOH and other key stakeholders use evidence based data to accelerate impact in their health programs.

This is a full-time position in Lusaka, reporting directly to the DAI Chief of Party (COP). The DCOP will assist the COP in technical leadership and management of the team and will make operational decisions in the absence of the COP.  Responsibilities will include:

  • Technical lead for health informatics project activities that integrate data collection, data quality, reporting, and use.
  • Support COP in implementation of innovative technologies to improve data collection and management.
  • Support COP in improving and harmonizing health information systems that support the national health information management system (HIMS).
  • Support the development of a national HIMS strategy to include a plan for implementing comprehensive HIMS, health map, and improved data quality and use.
  • Support COP in oversight of project strategy, implementation, management, client engagement, and coordination among government counterparts and other implementing partners.
  • Support COP in coordinating project efforts to promote program objectives and maintain relationships with MOH and other key stakeholders.
  • Support COP in overseeing administrative management of local subcontracts and grants.
  • Support COP in ensuring compliance with USAID regulations.
  • Support COP in supervising finance and administration, monitoring and evaluation, and communications staff.


  • Master’s degree in information technology, communication or related.
  • Minimum7 years of experience working as COP or DCOP in the administration of similar sized donor funded programs.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership including demonstrated success in engaging government counterparts in coordination, planning and monitoring of large complex programs and motivating multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English required.
